Damn the Destroyers

It's strange to watch the end in real time...

The Party is Over

I was born in 1980.  I remember watching the fall of the Berlin Wall when I was 7 on tv.  Although I didn't know the history, I knew it was big, and good.  It's cheating, really.  I wasn't subject to most of the Cold War.  I got to see it's end.  Now, it seems, the cosmos sees fit to bless our generation with another end.  A much darker one.  The fall of our country.

Now, before you deem me some Bill Burr-esque imitation of a redneck on tv screaming "Our country is goin' to shiiit!", I assure you, I'm not.  I grew up the same as most kids did in the 80s and 90s, a latchkey kid, in a suburban house, with middle-class divorced parents.  No real skills.  No passions.  No drive.  In the hyper-competitive world we live in now, it seems like an awful way to start, but we had no reason to think it would ever change.  We won.  Conflict was over.  Politicians were going on talk shows.  MTV would plaster commercials of their "Rock the Vote" campaign, but shit, at least 2 of the news crew at MTV were libertarians.  As far as most people were concerned, Reagan had fixed the fuck-ups of Carter, Clinton led the government to a surplus. Prince and 'The Matrix' was more right then any of us knew at the time, 1999 really was the pinnacle of Western Civilization.

Now, I fear, the party is over.  We've thrown away the gift of prosperity to shame, self-hate, and worst of all, apathy.  Our children are entitled idiots.  Our politicians are half-baked celebrities.  Our culture is trash.  We keep looking for blame anywhere but the mirror, and we keep looking for hope everywhere but in ourselves.  Our money is fake.  Our jobs are meaningless.  And our squabbles are shallow.  The future will be hard, and most of us won't make it.  We've become a country of steadfast cynics; spotting the problems in everything without the ability to act, let alone fix or create.  The few in American society that can create, maintain, and thrive, plan as if to cast society aside.  They would watch it crumble and die.  On some level who can blame them?  What is worth saving in modern day America?  Our shitty jobs?  Shitty schools?  Shitty food?  Cynics, but about bigger things.  Comparatively, those of us that won't make it let our "betters" plan and scheme to take from others on our behalf, knowing full well that the tiny fraction any of us would see at the end of the planning and scheming will come with so many strings a marionette would gasp.  Fitting, that phrase, "(no) strings attached".  Get too many of them and you are someone else's to control.  Too few and you are Pinocchio in Pleasure Island.  Puppets both.  Cynics all.

The Ghost of a Win

The Pinkos won 8 years ago, and the political right is too stupid and scared to see it.  They won the minute Trump was elected.  It sealed our fate to what is happening currently.  The left is nothing if not patient, and the long game takes patience.  I'm not speaking of the LARPer types, beating the elderly with baseball bats and throwing Molotov cocktails at coffee shops.  No, they aren't patient, but they aren't the left either.  They're the chattel for the left.  They are noisy, expendable pawns to make the left seem as impatient and scared as the right actually is.  If 2016 was anything, it was a reminder of times once past for some, and the perfect scapegoat for others.

Today Trump was indicted again for the 4th(?) time.  It's a shame that Trump is liberty's martyr in the modern era.  I wished we deserved better then an aging real estate magnate and reality gameshow star.  We don't, of course, but I wish we did.  He was indicted for things he's already been found not guilty of in the Senate, but it doesn't matter.  Look, if cops were arresting your neighbors during the lockdowns for keeping their stores open in your hometown, does anyone really think that anyone at all at the federal level cares about legality?  Of course not, but that orange egomaniac is exactly the person they needed to take apart this whole thing, and the left never let a good opportunity go to waste.  They were always burning what the people of this country thought it stood for, but before Trump they had to do it behind closed doors and sneak it in riders of bills.  Now they've gone to doing it out in the open.  Some people seem to think this is either a show of their ineptitude or hurriedness.  It's neither.  A poker player only shows his hand once he's won.  And they won when Trump was elected.  The left had every institution in the country, and now they had someone disliked enough they could turn that dislike into hate.  In an age of Instagram "Alpha Males" claiming to make millions before even getting out of bed, people seem to forget that being a braggard was looked down upon.  Sure, the streets liked Trump, but for all the reasons you're not supposed to like someone.  Twitter is awash with all the same bullet points for this indicment as they've been for the previous.  "But what about Biden?!", "He can't be found guilty, it's (insert legal clause)", "Notice they didn't try to get him for (insert), because then they would open the door for themselves!", and the always classic "This won't remove him from the ballot!"  To these I say, "Yeah, no shit."  The left is not done degrading us yet.  They want him on the ballot to show us he loses.  Whether or not he actually does lose means nothing.  Does anyone think the left will just throw their hands up in November of 2024 and say "Whelp, we tried!  Hope no one tries to do anything to us!"  Nope, Biden will win and we'll get Jan 6 - Part 2, only this time it'll be worse, and the response will be crushing and swift.  Then a climate lockdown.  Then the draft for WW3.  10 years from now half of us will exist and none of us will live.  There will be no solace in retribution, no back-to-normal.  Eat bugs, live in a pod, masterbate, die.
